Edo-Tokyo Museum

This is a must-see museum when in Tokyo. It covers the history of the city from the beginning when it was known as Edo all the way through to present-day times. It really does crystallize what an extraordinary process it was to rebuild Tokyo from the utter destruction WWII wrought to the hosting of the 1964 Olympics. The building is pretty extraordinary, too. If you go, be sure to budget at least four hours or you’ll be frustrated. It would be easy to spend an entire here and not take in all the exhibits.
