Illustrations of Wood, Ninna-ji, Kyoto

While walking around the monastery’s wooden verandas (in bare feet, shoes checked in at the entrance), I noticed that the wood used for the flooring was a beautiful Japanese cypress hardwood. I knew that some shots using the illustration effects setting on my camera would look interesting with this flooring as the subject. I was right! It really highlights the wood grain in a different and intriguing way.
