On to Osaka! Osaka is a true urban phenomenon, second only to Tokyo as a major Japanese city. It is known for its good eating, having coined the phrase “kuidaore” which means eat until you drop.
Osaka-jo, or castle, is a proud symbol of the city’s heritage. It was complete in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a display of power after he succeeded in unifying all of Japan. It took one hundred thousand workers three years to build.
