Kite Field

Adjacent to the Pier 2 Art District is the old railroad yards for the harbor. This area was the site of heavy boat manufacturing by the Japanese Navy during WWII, so it was decimated by bombing at the end of the war. The city’s reuse of the area was pretty creative – leave all the tracks, plant grass, install permanent art fixtures and call it a kite park.
