Door Gods

The Chinese place door gods on each side of the entrance to a temple. This is done in order to keep evil spirits out of the house of worship. They are always facing each other, as it is believed to be bad luck if they are back-to-back. Here are a couple of the humble goods found in a Taoist temple in the Taipei Botanical Garden.
