Red House – Taipei

The Red House is in the Ximending District of Taipei. It was built in 1908 to serve as the first public market for the city. These days it is an event space and exhibition hall with a group of restaurants and clubs clustered behind it that cater mainly to the city’s gay crowd. In its early days, it was one of bustling Ximending commercial district’s most iconic building with its’ octagonal design and fine brickwork alternating with stone.
